There was a lot happening this holidays which aren't over just yet.
The excitement started 1week ago in Tioman. I'm so glad we went. The first day was okay, a tad unpleasant though. On the second day, we took a speed boat on a round island tour. The weather was rather horrid. It was evident a storm was brewing. The speed boat was very unsteady at first. Being wierd and all, I began to imagine my funeral ><. By the time we arrived at our first stop, a village, the boat ride had begun to be more smooth. Over there, we played in the water, having no snorkeling to do. After that stop, we headed on to a waterfall. After a short hike (in our swim suits) through the jungle, we arrived at an ever refreshing waterfall. The water was freezing. Though that didn't stop me, it stopped my mother, father and sister. What scared me the most was the seemingly daunting depth of the water. Not only was it rather deep, it was dark. I was so afraid that there might be a dangerous animal (e.g. snake) lurking in the water. After that, we headed on to another resorty place for a sumptious lunch. Since it rained while we were having our lunch, by the time we set out again for the snorkeling, the sky was already crisp blue and pretty much cloudless.
We arrived at the first snorkeling site. Feeding the fishes with bread, it was frightnening to see armies of fishes headed for that miserable piece of bread in my hand. Obviously, all of us simply threw bread a distance away from us, fearing our fingers would be mistakened for bread, which happened anyway. BUT.BUT. I eventually did hand feed the fishes. From the boat. ><
On the final day, we spent the morning canoeing. It was a great workout for our arms. Furthermore, we were able to bond. Dad and I went out quite far, to an island nearby whereas Mum and I were a tad chicken and didn't go farther out than the pier.
On the way back, everything turned comical. The ferry we were on was 30mins away from the port in Mersing when the boat slowed to a halt. The lights went off as the air conditioner did. One of the commuters Dad was talking to investigated, finding the power outage was ,infact, due to a shortage of petrol. So, we waited for another 2 hours before the boat had petrol. Still, since it was a ferry, it took ages. Thus, they escorted some of us back via speed boats. And even then, it was running short of petrol. Oh dear. ><
